With Nashville holding a slim 1-run lead in the 3rd inning, second baseman Joey Wendle stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and slugged a grand slam and the Sounds never looked back as they rolled to a 13-5 victory over Omaha on Saturday. Wendle also had a pair of singles and drove in a total of 5 runs in the game. Catcher Matt McBride followed Wendle’s big blast in the 3rd with a solo shot of his own, while left fielder Andrew Lambo launched his 4th home run in the 4th, and first baseman Rangel Ravelo reached base 4 times, on a pair of singles, a double and a walk, while driving in 2 runs. Starter Dillon Overton was solid, allowing 3 runs over 7 innings of work to earn his 5th win for Sounds. And in other news, the A’s recalled LHP Daniel Coulombe and optioned RHP Andrew Triggs back to Nashville on Saturday.

RHP Corey Walter turned in another solid outing as he transitions from a bullpen role into the starting rotation for the RockHounds. Walter allowed just 1 run over 4 innings of work on Saturday. The lead see-sawed back and forth but, with the game tied in the top of the 9th, RHP Kyle Finnegan surrendered the winning run to take the loss for the RockHounds. Left fielder J.P. Sportman had a pair of hits, while right fielder Tyler Marincov and center fielder Brett Vertigan both singles in runs in the loss.

Second baseman Joe Bennie had another big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits and driving in Stockton’s first run of the night, while right fielder Seth Brown doubled and drove in 2 runs, and shortstop Mikey White and first baseman Sandber Pimentel had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Right fielder Brett Siddall singled, doubled and drove in 2 runs, while designated hitter Michael Soto collected 3 hits and a walk in his season debut for Beloit, and center fielder Mike Martin had 2 hits and drove in a pair in his first game for the Snappers.
