The Sounds wrapped up their eight-game road trip by beating the Bees in Salt Lake City to win their eighth straight on Monday. Right fielder Matt Olson smacked a 3-run homer in the 4th inning to give Nashville the lead and then doubled in the Sounds’ 4th run in the 6th. Shortstop Chad Pinder added a 2-run homer of his own in the 6th, and center fielder Jaycob Brugman drove in a pair of runs in the same inning for the Sounds. Brugman finished the day with 4 hits, including 3 doubles, while third baseman Ryon Healy singled, doubled, walked and scored twice. RHP Daniel Mengden delivered another solid start, holding Salt Lake scoreless through the first 6 innings before giving up 3 runs, just 2 earned, in the 7th. It was only Mengden’s second outing this season where he gave up more than 1 run and he wound up walking away with his 3rd win on Monday.

After allowing 7 earned runs all season for Beloit, RHP Kyle Friedrichs surrendered 9 runs in his first start for Stockton on Monday. Friedrichs gave up a grand slam in the 1st inning and then was charged with another 5 runs in the 2nd. LHP Matt Stalcup followed with 4 1/3 scoreless frames in relief. Second baseman Joe Bennie had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while shortstop Mikey White, catcher Argenis Raga and left fielder B.J. Boyd had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Starter Kevin Johnson tossed 4 scoreless innings for the Snappers on Monday. But RHPs Jesus Zambrano and Armando Ruiz surrendered a pair of runs apiece in relief, and RHP Cody Kurz gave up the winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning to suffer his 2nd loss for the Snappers. First baseman Ryan Howell collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, while left fielder Jean Carlo Rodriguez had 2 doubles and drove in 2 runs, and third baseman Edwin Diaz slugged his 2nd home run for the Snappers.
