Shortstop Chad Pinder continued his hot hitting of late, collecting 4 hits, including his 10th home run and his 24th double, while driving in 5 runs for the RockHounds on Saturday. Pinder ran his hitting streak to 18 games, matching the longest in the Texas League this season, raised his team-leading batting average to .319 and took over the Texas League RBI lead with 60. Outfielder Chad Oberacker and first baseman Rangel Ravelo both had a pair of singles and a double, and designated hitter Renato Nunez had 2 hits and a walk and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Starter Dillon Overton was strong, allowing just 1 run over 5 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for Midland.

LHP Brad Mills turned in a solid start for the Sounds on Saturday, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 6 over 8 2/3 innings of work , but he still ended up taking his 10th loss for Nashville. The Sounds managed just 1 run on 6 hits on Saturday. Outfielder Jason Pridie had 2 hits and swiped a pair of bases in the loss. And with RHP Chris Bassitt’s recall by the A’s, RHP Angel Castro was optioned back to Nashville.

RHP Daniel Mengden, recently acquired from the Astros organization in the Scott Kazmir trade, made quite an impression in his first start for Stockton on Saturday. The 22-year-old was perfect through 4 2/3 innings before allowing his first hit of the game, a home run, with two outs in the bottom of the 5th. Mengden ended up allowing 1 run on just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 8 over 5 innings of work to earn the win in his debut. Third baseman Matt Chapman also had a big game, collecting his 20th home run, a 3-run shot, and his 19th double, while outfielder B.J. Boyd doubled in Stockton’s first run of the game in the 2nd, and designated hitter Jacob Nottingham reached base 3 times, on a single and a pair of walks, for the Ports.

The Snappers were shut out on just 6 hits on Saturday. Outfielders Justin Higley and Joe Bennie had a pair of hits apiece, while outfielder Max Kuhn reached base 3 times, on a single and a pair of walks. RHP Heath Fillmyer had a rough start, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks over just 3 2/3 innings of work to take his 10th loss for the Snappers.

Third Baseman Trace Loehr

Thrid baseman Trace Loehr doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 and tie the game in the bottom of the 6th on Saturday. Loehr also singled in the game, while shortstop Mikey White singled in the Lake Monsters’ first run in the 3rd, and outfielder Seth Brown singled, doubled and scored a run. Starter Kevin Duchene allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, in just 2 innings of work, while LHP Derek Beasley tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Dustin Driver gave up 1 run over 5 innings to take the loss for the Lake Monsters.

First baseman Shane Conlon had another big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including a pair of triples, while driving in 2 runs and scoring 3 times, and he’s now gone 10 for 15 over his last 4 games. Third baseman Miguel Mercedes singled and hit a 3-run homer, while catcher Miguel Guzman had 2 hits and drove in a pair, and outfielder Rodolfo Penalo had 2 hits, swiped a pair of bases and scored twice for the A’s. Starter Jordan Schwartz threw 2 scoreless innings, while RHP Xavier Altamirano tossed 4 scoreless frames to earn the win, and RHP Jesus Zambrano picked up his 1st save despite giving up 2 runs in 3 innings of relief.
