RHP Jake Sanchez turned in his best start yet for Midland, tossing 7 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win as the RockHounds extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. RHPs Ryan Dull and Bobby Wahl both contributed 1 scoreless inning in the shutout, and Hounds hurlers have now held their opponents scoreless for the last 16 innings. Catcher Carson Blair and left fielder Jaycob Brugman each had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while right fielder Josh Whitaker singled and doubled and has now hit safely in five straight games.

With the bases loaded and Nashville down by a run in the top of the 5th on Friday, outfielder Kent Matthes doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs for the Sounds. Matthes later singled in another run in the 9th, while designated hitter Ryan Roberts reached base 5 times, on 3 singles and a pair of walks, and first baseman Anthony Aliotti doubled, had a pair of singles and scored twice in the loss. Starter Arnold Leon allowed 2 runs in 5 innings of work and left the game with a 1-run lead, but RHP Seth Frankoff was charged with 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take his 1st loss for the Sounds. In other news, the A’s reinstated LHP Sean Nolin from the disabled list and optioned him to Nashville.

With his team down by a run in the bottom of the 4th inning on Friday, third baseman Matt Chapman homered for the second time in the last three days to tie the game at 2-2. Catcher Nick Rickles homered to put the Ports on the board in the 2nd, but that was all the scoring that Stockton would do on Friday as the team managed only 4 other hits in the game. Center fielder Brett Vertigan singled and tripled, while left fielder B.J. Boyd singled and doubled in the loss. Starter Joel Seddon allowed 4 runs on 8 hits over 5 2/3 innings to take his 3rd loss, while LHP Matt Stalcup tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Sam Bragg struck out the side in the 9th for the Ports.

The Snappers were shut out on just 3 hits on Friday. First baseman Max Kuhn singled and doubled, while catcher Argenis Raga went 1 for 3 in the loss. Starter Junior Mendez allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 6 innings of work to take his 2nd loss for the Snappers.
