RHP Jorge Marcheco turned in a strong start to lead Lansing to a weather-shortened shutout win over Peoria on Saturday. The 24-year-old Cuban righty, who was claimed by the A’s in the minor league portion of the Rule-5 draft in the offseason, tossed 5 2/3 scoreless frames, striking out 5, before the game was called due to unplayable field conditions, and Marcheco picked up the victory for the Lugnuts. Lansing managed just 3 hits in the game. Left fielder Breyson Guedez doubled, while second baseman Jared Davis singled and stole a base. Third baseman Daniel Bucciero drew a walk and singled in a run, and designated hitter Pedro Pineda was hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored Lansing’s sole run in the game.
