RHP Jackson Finley turned in a strong start to help the RockHounds record their fourth straight win over the Wind Surge on Thursday. The A’s 8th-round draft pick in 2023 allowed just 3 hits and 1 walk while compiling 9 strikeouts through 5 2/3 scoreless frames, and he’s now notched 42 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings for Midland and Lansing this season. On Saturday, Finley threw 84 pitches, 54 for strikes, but left with the game still a scoreless tie. RHP Jake Garland replaced him on the mound and threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Jay Dill got the first out in the 8th inning before RHP Stevie Emanuels recorded the final five outs for Midland to complete the four-hit shutout and pick up the win. The RockHounds didn’t record a hit until the bottom of the 8th inning. Center fielder Ryan Lasko doubled with one out and stole third base, then third baseman Luke Mann drove him in with a groundout to provide the RockHounds’ only run in the win.
