RHP Jake Garland turned in a strong start for Lansing, but the Lugnuts lost in extra innings to see their four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday. The 24-year-old righty tossed 5 scoreless frames in his return to the starting rotation after RHP Yunior’s Tur recent promotion to Midland, and he left the game with a one-run lead. Garland threw just 59 pitches, 38 for strikes, and he’s now failed to allow an earned run in his last 9 1/3 innings of work for the Lugnuts. RHP Jake Pfennigs gave up 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to surrender the lead, and RHP Hunter Breault allowed 1 unearned run in the bottom of the 10th to suffer the loss for Lansing. First baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam doubled in a run and was hit by a pitch, while shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer singled, walked and tallied his team-leading 13th stolen base for the Lugnuts.
