Third baseman Drew Lugbauer had a big night at the plate to help Las Vegas put 10 runs on the board, but the Aviators still ended up walking away with the loss on Wednesday. Lugbauer, who was signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, collected 4 hits, including a double and a grand slam that came with two outs in the 5th inning to give Las Vegas a one-run lead, and the 27-year-old now leads the club with 9 home runs. Right fielder Lawrence Butler slugged a solo shot, while center fielder Daz Cameron belted a two-run blast. Catcher Carlos Perez singled, homered and drove in a pair, and rehabbing shortstop Aledmys Diaz went 1 for 2 with a home run and a pair of walks in the loss. RHP Luis Medina made his first rehab start for Las Vegas and was charged with 5 runs in 2 1/3 innings of work. He threw a total of 60 pitches, 34 for strikes, with his fastball reaching 99 mph. LHP Sean Newcomb gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 1 inning of relief in his first rehab appearance with the Aviators, and RHP Zach Jackson allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, in 1/3 of an inning to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Meanwhile, RHP J.T. Ginn, who made two starts for the Aviators after being promoted from Midland, was placed on the 7-day injured list, and Las Vegas RHPs Adrian Martinez and Danis Correa were both sent to the ACL A’s on rehab assignments.
