After dropping their first two contests, the ACL A’s put 20 runs on the board to record their first win of the season on Thursday. Shortstop Drew Swift, who’s currently on a rehab assignment while he prepares to rejoin Lansing, helped lead the way. The A’s 8th-round draft pick in 2021 doubled twice, walked twice, stole a base and drove in 3 runs for the A’s. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Dominican right fielder Darlyn Montero doubled, homered, drew a walk, stole a base and scored 4 runs. 20-year-old Venezuelan left fielder Moises Gallardo doubled, drew 4 walks and drove in 3 runs, while 19-year-old Venezuelan second baseman Angel Arevalo homered, drew a walk and drove in a pair for the A’s. 18-year-old Dominican RHP Jefferson Jean made the start and threw 3 scoreless innings, while 19-year-old Venezuelan LHP Carlos Sarmiento picked up the win after allowing 1 unearned run and striking out 3 in 1 inning of relief on Thursday.
