Starter Blake Beers turned in an impressive performance to lead Lansing to a shutout victory on Saturday. The 24-year-old righty allowed just 3 hits and walked 1 while striking out 3 over 7 scoreless innings to earn his team-leading 4th win for the Lugnuts. Last season for Lansing and Stockton, Beers notched 100 strikeouts in 92 2/3 innings while posting a 4.08 ERA, which was second-best among A’s minor leaguers with at least 90 innings pitched last year. LHP Kumar Nambiar tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to complete the shutout on Saturday. Meanwhile, designated hitter Daniel Susac and second baseman Sahid Valenzuela had a pair of hits apiece and both drove in runs for the Lugnuts.
