Last year’s top draft pick for the A’s, catcher Daniel Susac, collected 4 hits on Thursday as Lansing split a doubleheader with Dayton to remain a game over .500. The 21-year-old went 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run in the Lugnuts’ first game loss and then went 2 for 4 and drove in a run in Lansing’s second game win. Susac now boasts the best batting average (.272) and slugging percentage (.469) among all current Lugnuts hitters while also leading the club with 22 hits, 6 doubles and 10 extra-base hits. Shortstop Max Muncy went 3 for 8 with 2 doubles in the doubleheader, while infielder Euribiel Angeles went 3 for 7 with a pair of doubles, stole a base and drove in 3 runs on the day, and outfielder Caeden Trenkle drove in the winning run with his only hit of the day in the bottom of the 9th to help Lansing win the second game in a walk-off. RHP Christian Fernandez started the first game and gave up 7 runs, 5 earned, over 5 1/3 frames to suffer the loss. RHP Mitch Myers made the start in the second game and allowed 3 runs in 6 innings of work, while RHP Jorge Juan was charged with 1 unearned run and notched 6 strikeouts in 2 innings of relief, and LHP Mac Lardner picked up the win despite allowing 1 unearned run in the top of the 9th for the Lugnuts.
