In the homer-happy Triple-A West League, starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies turned in an impressive performance on Thursday night. After struggling for much of the past month, the 25-year-old allowed 1 run on just 3 hits while throwing a season-high 7 innings to earn the victory for Las Vegas. And at one point, Jefferies retired 16 straight batters. RHP Grant Holmes finished things off by tossing 2 scoreless innings in relief. Center fielder Cody Thomas, last week’s Triple-A West League Player of the Week, continued his hot hitting by clubbing a pair of home runs to tie him for the league home run lead, while third baseman Vimael Machin doubled, drew a walk and drilled a two-run homer for the Aviators. In other news, RHP Homer Bailey is set to make his first start for Las Vegas on Friday.
