On a night when all of the A’s affiliate went down to defeat, Lansing outfielder Shane Selman turned in the best performance of the day. Selman slugged a solo shot in the 2nd inning, singled in a run in the 4th, and then doubled in another run in the 8th to give him 3 RBIs on the night, and the 24-year-old outfielder now leads the Lugnuts with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs. Third baseman Jordan Diaz also had a big night. The 20-year-old infielder singled, doubled, tripled, drew a pair of walks and drove in a run, while first baseman Will Simoneit singled, doubled, walked and drove in a run, and left fielder Lazaro Armenteros launched a two-run homer for Lansing. Starting pitcher David Leal allowed 6 runs over 4 2/3 frames to suffer the loss for the Lugnuts.
