Prospect Of The Game:

Third Baseman Jordan Diaz

(1 for 3 / Home Run / 2 RBIs / Walk)

On a day when all three A’s affiliates that were in action went down to defeat, the Lugnuts fell for the fifth time in their last six games. The good news for Lansing was that 20-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz homered for the second straight night, tagging a two-run shot in the top of the 1st inning to stake his team to an early lead. He also drew a walk to lead off the 4th but was left stranded. And Diaz now leads the Lugnuts with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs on the young season. First baseman Patrick McColl and center fielder Michael Guldberg both doubled for Lansing in the loss. Starter Brady Basso allowed 2 runs over 3 2/3 innings, while RHP Shohei Tomioka gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, in 2 innings of work to take the loss for the Lugnuts.
