The Ports used 11 hits and 9 walks to put 8 runs on the board and notch their first win of the season on Wednesday – and Stockton first baseman Lawrence Butler was right in the middle of all the action. 2018’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s managed to reach base 4 times without collecting a hit. The 20-year-old drew 4 walks, stole 3 bases and scored 3 runs for the Ports. He walked, stole a base and scored Stockton’s first run of the game in the 2nd inning, he walked, stole a base and scored the team’s first run in the 4th inning, and he singled, stole a base and scored the Ports’ first run in the 9th inning. Second baseman Sahid Valenzuela singled twice, stole a base, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while designated hitter Lazaro Armenteros singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run, and right fielder Kevin Richards singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice for Stockton. Third baseman T.J. RHP Vince Coletti came on to get the final out of the 3rd inning and pick up the win, while tandem starter Daniel Martinez gave up 3 runs in 2 1/3 innings of work, and RHP Jose Mora struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of relief to post the save for the Ports. Midland fell to Frisco for the second straight night on Wednesday. Starting pitcher Brady Feigl allowed 3 runs over 3 innings of work, while LHP Zack Erwin gave up 3 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss. Right fielder Tyler Ramirez singled and doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs, while designated hitter Jeremy Eierman homered, and third baseman Logan Davidson singled in a run in the loss. 2019’s 16th-round draft pick for the A’s, LHP Brady Basso, made the start and allowed just 1 run over 4 innings of work but still ended up being saddled with the loss on Wednesday. Tandem starter Rafael Kelly was charged with 2 runs, just 1 earned, in 4 innings of relief, while RHP Jack Weisenburger struck out the side in order in the 9th.
