Las Vegas notched a walk-off win over Oklahoma City on Monday. Right fielder Mark Payton pounded out a pair of home runs in the game, both of which gave the Aviators the lead. The 27-year-old hit a two-run homer in the 2nd inning to give Las Vegas a one-run lead and then slugged a solo shot in the 6th to break a 7-7 tie. Payton’s performance on Monday raised his slugging percentage to .673, which is good for third best in the Pacific Coast League. First baseman Eric Campbell singled, doubled, walked twice and hit a two-run homer, while catcher Beau Taylor drew a walk and belted a two-run blast, and left fielder Seth Brown hit his 30th home run and singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th as the Aviators won in a walk-off. Shortstop Franklin Barreto went 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts in his second game back with Las Vegas. Starter Tanner Anderson was charged with 6 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while RHP Jharel Cotton struck out a pair in 1 scoreless inning of relief, and LHP A.J. Puk walked 1 while pitching a scoreless frame in the top of the 9th to pick up the victory for Vegas. Meanwhile, shortstop Jorge Mateo and RHP Brian Schlitter were both placed on the injured list, while catcher Jonah Heim returned from the IL, and RHP Ryan Dull was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Monday.

Midland suffered its third straight loss on Monday. RHP James Kaprielian turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 run over 4 frames while throwing 60 pitches, 42 for strikes. RHP Daulton Jefferies gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 3 innings of relief to take the loss. Shortstop Edwin Diaz singled, doubled twice and drove in a run, while left fielder Tyler Ramirez hit a two-run homer for the Hounds in the loss.

The Snappers won in extra innings on Monday. Catcher John Jones singled in a pair of runs in the 3rd inning, walked with the bases loaded to bring home a run in the 11th, and then doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs, including the winning run, in the 12th. Starter Jhenderson Hurtado was charged with 3 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while infielder Nick Ward threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters won their fourth straight on Monday. Shortstop Logan Davidson singled, doubled and scored a run, while first baseman Kyle McCann and center fielder Kevin Richards each doubled in a run, and second baseman Yerdel Vargas singled in the tying run in the 7th inning for Vermont. 21-year-old Dominican RHP Richard Jose Morban made the start and allowed 3 runs over 5 frames, while 23-year-old Panamanian LHP Jorge Martinez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, and 21-year-old Dominican RHP Jose Mora got the final six outs to secure his 6th save for the Lake Monsters. Meanwhile, this year’s 11th-round draft pick for the A’s, infielder Dustin Harris, was reassigned to Vermont on Monday.

The AZL A’s Green squad lost in extra innings on Monday. LHP Jesus Luzardo made the start and allowed just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 5 over 2 scoreless innings of work in his first rehab appearance for the A’s. But RHP Sam Dicochea gave up 1 run in 2 2/3 innings of relief, and RHP Sam Romero was charged with 1 unearned run in the top of the 10th to take the loss. Second baseman Givaine Basilia doubled for the A’s only extra-base hit in the loss.
