The Aviators notched their fourth win in their last five games on Wednesday. Second baseman Corban Joseph hit a three-run homer in the 1st inning to help Las Vegas build an early lead and then drove in another run in the Aviators’ five-run 4th. Joseph’s .382 batting average is currently best in the PCL, and his 32 doubles are the most among all A’s minor leaguers. Catcher Cameron Rupp singled and slugged a two-run homer, while right fielder Seth Brown collected 2 hits, drew a walk and drove in a pair, and designated hitter Stephen Piscotty singled twice, scored twice and drew a walk in his fourth rehab appearance for Las Vegas. With catcher Sean Murphy suffering an apparent knee injury in Tuesday’s game, catcher Jordan Devencenzi was promoted from the Ports and singled in his only at-bat for the Aviators on Wednesday. Starter Tanner Anderson allowed 3 runs over 6 innings of work to earn the win, while LHP Kyle Lobstein pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 1st save for Las Vegas. In other news, with outfielder Ramon Laureano and catcher Josh Phegley landing on the injured list for Oakland, outfielder Nick Martini and catcher Beau Taylor were recalled by the A’s, while RHP Andrew Triggs was designated for assignment, and RHP Brian Schlitter cleared waivers and was sent back to Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Stockton suffered its third straight loss on Wednesday. Starter Xavier Altamirano was charged with 6 runs, 5 earned, over 5 1/3 frames to take the loss. Third baseman Ryan Gridley hit a two-run homer and walked twice, while second baseman Trace Loehr and shortstop Jeremy Eierman had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. Meanwhile, the A’s sent Stockton outfielder Jameson Hannah to Cincinnati in the Tanner Roark trade, while Ports catcher Jordan Devencenzi was promoted to Las Vegas, and catcher Matt Cross was reassigned to Stockton on Wednesday.

23-year-old Venezuelan LHP Jhenderson Hurtado turned in a strong start for the Snappers, allowing 2 runs, on just 1 hit, a home run, and 1 walk, while striking out 7 over 6 innings of work to earn the win on Wednesday. Center fielder Devin Foyle singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, while designated hitter Anthony Churlin had 3 hits and drove in 3, and shortstop Max Schuemann doubled twice and drove in a run for the Snappers.

Vermont notched its second straight win over State College on Wednesday. Last year’s top draft pick for the A’s, shortstop Logan Davidson, homered, drew a pair of walks and scored 3 runs, and the 21-year-old has now gone 5 for 14 with 2 home runs over his last 4 games for the Lake Monsters. Last year’s 6th-round pick for the A’s, first baseman Lawrence Butler, singled twice, drew a walk and drove in a run, while this year’s 4th-round pick, catcher Kyle McCann, singled, tripled and drove in 2 runs, and this year’s 32nd-round pick, third baseman Marty Bechina, singled twice, stole a base and drove in a pair for Vermont. 21-year-old Dominican RHP Richard Jose Morban made the start and allowed 2 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while 23-year-old Panamanian LHP Jorge Martinez threw 3 scoreless and hitless innings in relief to earn the win, and 24-year-old Dominican RHP Jeferson Mejia got the final five outs for Vermont to secure the save.

The AZL A’s Green squad was shut out on just five hits on Wednesday. This year’s 8th-round draft pick for the A’s, 18-year-old RHP Jose Dicochea, made the start and allowed 2 runs over 3 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss. This year’s 27th-round draft pick, third baseman Gavin Jones, doubled and drew a walk for the A’s in the loss.

This year’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, 18-year-old right fielder Marcus Smith, singled, doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored 3 runs, while 18-year-old Panamanian third baseman Joshwan Wright had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in 3 runs to help the AZL A’s Gold squad win on Wednesday. 21-year-old Dominican RHP Robin Vazquez made the start and gave up 3 runs, 1 earned, over 3 innings of work, while this year’s 38th-round draft pick, LHP David Leal, allowed 1 unearned run in 2 1/3 innings of relief to pick up the win, and this year’s 20th-round pick, RHP Jack Weisenburger, tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 2nd save for the A’s.
