PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE (Triple-A)
New Orleans Baby Cakes 8
Las Vegas Aviators 7
LP: Puk 2-1 / 4.50
HR: Murphy (7)
Prospect Of The Game:
Catcher Sean Murphy
(2 for 3 / Home Run / Double / Walk / 4 RBIs)
Catcher Sean Murphy has been on fire since returning from the injured list for Las Vegas. Before Tuesday’s game, he’d gone 6 for 12 with 5 home runs and 9 RBIs in his first 3 games back in action for the Aviators. And on Tuesday, despite a Las Vegas loss, Murphy turned in the best performance of the day among A’s minor leaguers, hitting another home run while also doubling, drawing a walk and driving in 4 runs for the Aviators. Unfortunately, Murphy left the game after appearing to re-injure his left knee while legging out his double in the 7th inning. Rehabbing right fielder Stephen Piscotty singled twice, drew a walk and drove in a run for Las Vegas. LHP Sean Manaea made the start and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on just 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 8 over 6 innings of work in his second rehab appearance for the Aviators. RHP Jharel Cotton permitted 2 runs, 1 earned, in 1 inning of relief, while LHP A.J. Puk gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, in 1 inning to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Aviators RHP Jake Buchanan was released on Tuesday.
