The Aviators may have gone down to defeat on Thursday, but Las Vegas second baseman Corban Joseph turned in the best performance of the day among A’s minor leaguers. The 30-year-old infielder collected 5 hits, including his 11th home run and his team-best 30th double, while driving in 3 runs and raising his league-leading batting average to .384. First baseman Seth Brown drew a pair of walks and belted his team-best 22nd home run, while shortstop Jorge Mateo doubled and drilled a two-run homer, and catcher Sean Murphy walked, homered and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly in his first game for the Aviators since returning from the injured list. Starter Tanner Anderson surrendered 6 runs in 4 innings of work to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Meanwhile, outfielder Skye Bolt was placed on the injured list on Thursday.

The RockHounds suffered a one-run loss to Arkansas to see their three-game winning streak snapped on Thursday. RHP James Kaprielian made the start and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits while walking 3 and striking out 3 over 3 innings of work to take the loss in his Double-A debut. Kaprielian threw 65 pitches, 41 for strikes on Thursday. RHP Daulton Jefferies threw 3 scoreless innings in relief for the RockHounds, while first baseman Dan Gamache had a pair of hits and drove in the RockHounds’ sole run in the loss.

RHP Mitchell Jordan turned in a strong start for Stockton on Thursday, allowing just 1 run while walking none and striking out 7 over 5 2/3 frames to pick up his 8th win for the Ports. RHP Jake Bray secured his 4th save despite giving up a run in the bottom of the 9th for Stockton. Third baseman Jonah Bride singled, doubled twice and drove in a run, while first baseman Alfonso Rivas had 3 hits and drove in a run, and shortstop Jeremy Eierman singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run for the Ports. Meanwhile, outfielder Josh Watson and RHP Leudeny Pineda were both reassigned from Stockton to Vermont on Thursday.

20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Angello Infante turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs over 5 frames, but he still ended up suffering his 2nd loss for the Snappers on Thursday. First baseman Payton Squier and right fielder Nick Osborne notched the only hits for the Snappers in the loss.

The Lake Monsters suffered their third loss in their last four games on Thursday. This year’s 22nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Jack Cushing, made the start and was charged with 6 runs, 4 earned, in just 2 innings of work to take the loss, while 23-year-old Panamanian LHP Jorge Martinez threw 3 scoreless innings in relief. This year’s 29th-round draft pick, center fielder Michael Woodward, had 3 hits, including a double, drew a walk, drove in a pair and stole a base for the Lake Monsters in the loss. Meanwhile, outfielder Josh Watson and RHP Leudeny Pineda were both reassigned from Stockton to Vermont on Thursday.

A’s RHP Marco Estrada made the start and struck out a pair without allowing a hit or a walk while throwing 1 scoreless inning in his first rehab appearance in the Arizona League. RHP Brock Whittlesey allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in the top of the 11th to suffer the loss on Thursday. 20-year-old Venezuelan designated hitter Rafael Rincones singled, drew a walk and drove in a run, while left fielder Ben Spitznagel had a pair of hits for the A’s in the loss.
