Last year’s 28th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Reid Birlingmair, turned in one of his best starts of the season on Wednesday. Birlingmair allowed just 1 run on 4 hits while notching a season-high 8 strikeouts over 7 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for the Snappers. Shortstop Max Schuemann singled, homered and drove in 3 runs, while third baseman Nick Ward had a pair of hits, drew a walk and drove in a run. First baseman Payton Squier singled twice and walked in his return from the injured list, and catcher Skyler Weber singled, walked, stole a base and scored twice for the Snappers. Meanwhile, infielder Cobie Vance and RHP Bryce Nightengale both landed on the injured list, and LHP Jhenderson Hurtado was reassigned to the Snappers from the Lake Monsters.

LHP Sean Manaea suffered the loss in his first rehab appearance with Las Vegas on Wednesday. The 27-year-old southpaw allowed 5 runs on 5 hits, including 3 home runs, while walking 1 and striking out 7 over 4 1/3 frames, throwing 76 pitches, 48 for strikes, in the process. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled, homered and drove in a pair, while left fielder Mark Payton singled, doubled and drove in a run. First baseman Eric Campbell had a pair of hits, including a double, and second baseman Corban Joseph hit his team-leading 29th double in the loss. In other news, RHP Tanner Anderson was sent back to Las Vegas, while RHP Brian Howard was reassigned from the RockHounds to the Aviators, RHP James Naile was sent back to Midland, and catcher Sean Murphy was activated from the injured list on Wednesday.

The RockHounds won their third straight on Wednesday. Left fielder Chase Calabuig tripled, singled twice and drove in 3 runs, while center fielder Mickey McDonald collected 3 hits and stole a base, and second baseman Nate Mondou also had 3 hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds. RHP Grant Holmes turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs over 5 frames to earn the win, while LHP Zack Erwin tossed a scoreless 9th to secure his 6th save for Midland. Meanwhile, RHP Brian Howard was sent to Las Vegas and RHP James Naile was reassigned to the RockHounds on Wednesday.

Stockton suffered its fifth loss in its last six games on Wednesday. After looking extremely solid over his first 18 appearances for Stockton, RHP Brady Feigl has now turned in two of his worst performances of the season over his last two outings. Feigl gave up 9 runs, 5 earned, last Friday. And on Wednesday, he was charged with 6 runs in just 3 1/3 innings of work to suffer his 6th loss for Stockton. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros laced his 5th triple, drew a pair of walks to increase his team-leading total to 59 free passes and tallied his team-best 15th stolen base. Center fielder Austin Beck singled, doubled and drove in a run, while shortstop Jeremy Eierman doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs in the loss. Meanwhile, catcher Nick Hundley, who had been serving a rehab assignment with Stockton, was designated for assignment by the A’s on Wednesday.

Vermont battled back to claim victory on Wednesday. First baseman Jose Rivas tripled in a pair of runs in the Lake Monsters’ big five-run 8th, while this year’s top draft pick for the A’s, shortstop Logan Davidson, singled in a pair of runs earlier in the same frame. Left fielder Shane Selman doubled twice, and right fielder Marty Bechina had a pair of hits, including a double, for Vermont. RHP Richard Jose Morban made the start and allowed 2 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while RHP Carlos Sanchez was charged with 1 unearned run in 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win, and RHP Jose Mora tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings to secure his 4th save for the Lake Monsters.
