Las Vegas won in a walk-off to notch its fourth straight one-run victory on Wednesday. Designated hitter Nick Martini reached base 5 times to raise his on-base percentage to .438. He homered in the 1st inning to give the Aviators an early lead, then singled twice and walked twice for Las Vegas. Second baseman Corban Joseph doubled and drew a pair of walks, while shortstop Jorge Mateo singled, stole a base and doubled in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th, and catcher Beau Taylor doubled and drew a pair of walks, including a bases-loaded walk in the 9th to bring home the winning run as Las Vegas won in a walk-off. Starter Jake Buchanan allowed just 2 runs and struck out 7 over 7 innings of work but left the game with his team down by a run, while RHP Miguel Romero tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory for Vegas.

RHP Grant Holmes turned in a solid start, but it wasn’t enough to keep the RockHounds from having their six-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday. Holmes allowed just 1 run while walking none and striking out 6 over 4 frames, but he still ended up suffering his 2nd loss for Midland. LHP A.J. Puk permitted 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk in 1 inning of relief. He threw 24 pitches, 13 for strikes. RHP Daulton Jefferies gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 3 innings of work for the Hounds. First baseman Taylor Motter walked and singled in the RockHounds’ sole run in the loss.

The Snappers suffered their ninth loss in their last ten games on Wednesday. Starter Joe DeMers allowed 2 runs over 4 frames to take the loss, while LHP Josh Reagan threw 3 scoreless innings in relief. First baseman Santis Sanchez singled, drew a pair of walks and doubled in a run for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters were shut out for the second night in a row to suffer their fifth straight loss on Wednesday. Starter Hogan Harris was solid, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 8 over 3 2/3 scoreless innings, but RHP Clark Cota was charged with 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss. This year’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s, second baseman Michael Woodworth, had a pair of hits for Vermont in the loss.
