Las Vegas suffered a one-run loss to Fresno in the first game of the team’s 12 -game homestand on Friday. After making one start for Stockton last week, RHP Edwin Jackson made his first start for the Aviators on Friday and wasn’t terribly sharp. The 35-year-old veteran allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks over 4 2/3 frames and exited with the game a 2-2 tie. Jackson threw a total of 102 pitches on the night, 65 for strikes. RHP Ryan Dull gave up a home run in the 8th inning to tie the game, and RHP Brian Schlitter surrendered a homer in the top of the 9th to give the Grizzlies a one-run lead. Then designated hitter Matt Olson, who had gone 0 for 4 in the game, homered with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game once again and send the contest to extra innings. But RHP Norge Ruiz allowed an unearned in the top of the 11th to take the loss for Las Vegas. First baseman Corban Joseph had a big night at the plate, singling in a run in the 1st inning to give Las Vegas an early lead, homering in the 3rd to tie the game, and then tripling with two outs in the 9th to put the potential winning run in scoring position for the Aviators. Meanwhile, the A’s officially announced the promotion of Las Vegas outfielder Skye Bolt to Oakland on Friday.
