Designated hitter Anthony Garcia’s record day led the Sounds to their second straight victory over the Storm Chasers on Tuesday. Garcia slugged a pair of home runs, a grand slam in the 2nd inning and a two-run shot in the 6th, to extend his team-leading total to 17. Garcia also drove in a run on a groundout in the 1st and walked with the bases loaded to bring in another run in the 8th. And his 8 RBIs in the game set a franchise record for Nashville. First baseman Steve Lombardozzi singled, tripled, walked and drove in a run, while catcher Beau Taylor doubled and drew 4 walks, and right fielder J.P. Sportman went 0 for 5 with a pair of strikeouts in his Triple-A debut on Tuesday. RHP Frankie Montas turned in a strong start, tossing 5 scoreless frames to earn his 2nd win for the Sounds. Meanwhile, RHP Ben Bracewell was reassigned to the RockHounds to make room for Sportman on the Sounds roster.

With a man on, two outs and the game tied in the top of the 9th, right fielder Skye Bolt stepped to the plate and slugged a two-run homer to help the RockHounds snap their four-game losing streak on Tuesday. Bolt also walked and stole a base in the game, while center fielder Luis Barrera singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice. Second baseman Richie Martin collected 3 hits, including a double, and shortstop Eli White singled, doubled and drove in a run for the RockHounds. RHP Sam Bragg was outstanding in a spot start, throwing 5 scoreless frames and left the game with a one-run lead, but RHP Miguel Romero gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief. RHP Nolan Blackwood tossed 2 scoreless frames to pick up his 4th win, and RHP Kyle Finnegan got the final three outs to secure his 2nd save for Midland.

21-year-old Dominican RHP Rafael Kelly turned in a strong start on Tuesday, allowing just 1 run while walking none and striking out 7 over 5 frames to earn his 2nd victory for Vermont. This year’s 14th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Gus Varland, was solid in relief, striking out 6 over 3 scoreless innings, and RHP Slater Lee got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 2nd save. This year’s 23rd-round pick, third baseman Jonah Bride, singled in a run, while 17th-round center fielder Devin Foyle singled, walked twice and scored a run for the Lake Monsters.
