Although the RockHounds were shut out for the second straight night to drop their sixth straight and suffer their ninth loss in their last ten games, LHP Jesus Luzardo turned in another scoreless start for Midland on Saturday. Luzardo allowed just 2 hits and struck out 5 over 5 shutout frames. He left with the game a scoreless tie and has now failed to allow a run over his last 10 innings and hasn’t allowed an earned run over his last 17 innings for the RockHounds. But RHP Kyle Friedrichs gave up 2 runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief to take the loss. Midland hitters managed just four hits on the night. Shortstop Eli White, center fielder Skye Bolt, left fielder Brett Siddall and second baseman Richie Martin all singled in the loss.

The Sounds went down to defeat in 10 innings to suffer their second straight one-run loss on Saturday. It was also the team’s sixth loss in its last seven games. A’s LHP Brett Anderson made the start and threw 4 scoreless frames in a rehab start for the Sounds. Center fielder Jake Smolinski singled twice, walked and scored the Sounds’ sole run on third baseman Sheldon Neuse‘s RBI double in the bottom of the 4th. RHP Bobby Wahl surrendered the tying run in the top of the 9th, and LHP Jeremy Bleich allowed the winning run in the 10th to take the loss. Meanwhile, Nashville’s Nick Martini was recalled by Oakland, while the A’s sent RHP Chris Bassitt and LHP Danny Coulombe back to the Sounds on Saturday, and RHP Kyle Finnegan returned from the disabled list for Nashville.

Stockton secured its fourth straight win over Modesto on Saturday, this time in extra innings. Starter Dustin Hurlbutt allowed 2 runs over 5 frames. First baseman Sandber Pimentel collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in a run in the 2nd inning, while third baseman William Toffey homered for the second straight night, hitting a two-run homer in the 4th to give his team the lead. LHP Ty Damron pitched 2 perfect innings of relief in his California League debut, but LHP Andrew Tomasovich surrendered the tying run in the top of the 8th. Right fielder Dairon Blanco had a pair of hits and singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th as Stockton won in a walk-off on Saturday. RHP Angel Duno picked up the win after pitching a scoreless top of the 10th for the Ports.

Starter Mitchell Jordan allowed 4 runs over 5 frames to suffer the loss for the Snappers on Saturday. Center fielder Austin Beck tripled, doubled and drove in a run, and left fielder Logan Farrar singled twice to account for all the Snappers’ hits in the loss.

The Lake Monsters were shut out on just four hits to suffer their third straight loss on Saturday. Starter Adam Reuss allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, over 3 2/3 innings of work to take loss, while LHP Brandon Marsonek gave up 3 runs, 1 earned, in 1 2/3 innings, and RHP Jeferson Mejia surrendered 6 runs, 2 earned, in 1 1/3 innings of relief for the Lake Monsters. This year’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Jameson Hannah, tripled, while this year’s 4th-round pick, first baseman Alfonso Rivas, doubled, and left fielder Jeramiah McCray and designated hitter Payton Squier both singled in the loss. After winning their first four games, the AZL A’s suffered their first loss of the season on Saturday. This year’s 21st-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Daniel Martinez, made the start and tossed 2 scoreless innings, while this year’s 22nd-round pick, RHP Aiden McIntyre, surrendered 3 runs in 1 inning of work to take the loss. 19-year-old Dominican first baseman Alonzo Medina drew a pair of walks and doubled in a run, while this year’s 27th-round pick, center fielder Chase Calabuig, tripled and scored a run, and Stockton right fielder Greg Deichmann tripled and walked in his third rehab appearance with the A’s.
