Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Daniel Gossett

(7 IP / 5 H / 1 ER / 0 B / 9 K / Win)

Solid pitching helped the Sounds defeat division-leading Memphis for the second straight night on Saturday as Nashville ran its record back to an even .500. With rain threatening, RHP Chris Bassitt stepped in and made the start in place of scheduled starter Daniel Gossett and allowed 1 run over 2 innings of work. With the threat of rain subsiding, Gossett took the mound in the 3rd inning and went the rest of the way, allowing just 1 run while striking out 9 over 7 innings to earn his 2nd win for the Sounds. Designated hitter Josh Phegley collected 3 hits and drove in a pair, while catcher Dustin Garneau singled, doubled and drove in a run for Nashville. Former A’s farmhands Max Schrock and Yairo Munoz were both in the lineup for Memphis on Saturday. Schrock had a pair of hits from the leadoff spot while Munoz doubled in a run for the Redbirds.

LHP Dean Kiekhefer tossed a scoreless 9th to notch the save in his RockHounds debut. The 28-year-old Kiekhefer, who was recently released by the Cincinnati organization, was signed by the A’s to a minor league deal earlier in the week. Center fielder Tyler Ramirez homered, doubled and drove in a pair, while catcher Sean Murphy and designated hitter Brett Siddall both collected triples, and first baseman Seth Brown had 3 hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

LHP Ty Damron ended up taking the loss when the winning run scored on a passed ball by catcher Skyler Weber with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning.
