Third baseman Eli White’s big night at the plate helped lead the RockHounds to their third victory in their last four games on Thursday. White collected 5 hits, including his team-leading 3rd triple as well as his 4th home run of the season to tie him with Mikey White for the team lead, while also driving in 3 runs in the game. The 23-year-old South Carolina native raised his batting average to .323, has reached base in nine straight games and is now tied for the team lead in both hits and total bases while also leading the squad with 5 stolen bases. First baseman Seth Brown singled, doubled, homered and drove in 2 runs, while right fielder Tyler Marincov homered and drove in a pair, and shortstop Richie Martin tripled in 2 runs for the RockHounds. Starter Kyle Friedrichs allowed 5 runs on 11 hits over 6 innings of work but still wound up picking up the win for Midland on Thursday.

With the Sounds holding an eight-run lead, Thursday’s game was suspended after eight innings due to a travel curfew and won’t be completed until Nashville next returns to Colorado Springs in August. Before the suspension, shortstop Jorge Mateo had 4 hits, including 2 home runs, and stole a base. Right fielder Anthony Garcia also homered twice while driving in 5 for Nashville. Starter James Naile allowed 5 runs over 4 frames, and RHP Emilio Pagan struck out 3 while throwing 2 perfect innings of relief in his debut for the Sounds. And in other news, Sounds RHP Simon Castro was released on Thursday.

After winning five in a row, Stockton lost its second straight on Thursday. The Ports plated four runs on just four hits in the loss. First baseman Edwin Diaz homered for the third straight game and also drew a walk, while catcher Collin Theroux and third baseman Melvin Mercedes each singled, walked and drove in a run, and right fielder Luis Barrera doubled, walked and scored a run for the Ports. Starter Zack Erwin surrendered 6 runs over 4 frames to suffer his 2nd loss for Stockton. Meanwhile, infielder/outfielder Eric Marinez was suspended for 80 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance and catcher Jason Goldstein was activated from the disabled list on Thursday.

The Snappers lost in a walk-off for the second straight night to drop their fifth straight as Fort Wayne completed their sweep of the three-game series on Thursday. RHP Xavier Altamirano turned in another strong start for the Snappers, allowing 2 runs and striking out 8 over 7 innings of work, while RHP Seth Martinez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief. Third baseman Jake Lumley had 2 hits and drove in the tying run in the top of the 9th when left fielder Anthony Churlin came in to score after having doubled to lead off the inning. And LHP Josh Reagan suffered the loss when the winning run crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the 10th. Meanwhile, first baseman Miguel Mercedes was activated from the disabled list and shortstop Nick Allen was placed on the bereavement list on Thursday.
