Center fielder Dustin Fowler’s big day at the plate helped Nashville notch the win on Sunday and move a game over .500. Fowler tripled and scored in the 4th inning, doubled and scored in the 5th and slugged a two-run homer in the 7th, and the 23-year-old now leads the team in hits, runs and total bases. Third baseman Steve Lombardozzi doubled and drove in a pair of runs, while catcher Beau Taylor singled twice, drew a walk, drove in a run and stole a base. Second baseman Jorge Mateo had 2 hits, including a triple, and shortstop Franklin Barreto singled, doubled, walked, stole a base and drove in a run for the Sounds. Starter Daniel Gossett allowed 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and 6 walks over 4 2/3 frames, while LHP Jeremy Bleich threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to notch the win for Nashville. Meanwhile, RHP Chris Bassitt is scheduled to make his first start of the season for the Sounds on Monday.

Midland was shut out on five hits on Sunday to lose its third straight. RHP Corey Walter endured a rough start for the RockHounds, surrendering 8 runs over 3 2/3 innings to suffer his 3rd loss on Sunday. LHP Cody Stull allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of relief, while RHP Trey Cochran-Gill gave up 4 runs in 1 1/3 innings, but RHP Nolan Blackwood came on to pitch a perfect frame in the bottom of the 8th for Midland. Catcher Sean Murphy, first baseman Seth Brown, outfielders Brett Siddall and Tyler Ramirez, and designated hitter Brett Vertigan each singled in the loss.

Starting pitcher Logan Shore returned to action and made a successful season debut for Stockton on Sunday. 2016’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s allowed 1 run on just 2 hits while striking out 6 over 4 frames, while LHP Will Gilbert tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win as Stockton completed the sweep of its three-game series against Lake Elsinore on Sunday. Left fielder Dairon Blanco singled, tripled and drove in a run, while right fielder Luis Barrera singled, doubled and drove in 3, and center fielder Skye Bolt had 2 hits and homered for the second straight day while driving in a pair for the Ports. And with Shore’s addition to the Stockton staff, Ports pitcher Brandon Marsonek was sent to extended spring training in Arizona on Sunday.

LHP Jared Poche had his first shaky start this season for the Snappers, surrendering 4 runs over 4 frames on Sunday. LHP Ivan Andueza was solid in relief, allowing just 1 run over 3 2/3 innings in his season debut, but RHP Heath Bowers gave up 3 runs in the top of the 9th to suffer the loss for the Snappers. Second baseman Trace Loehr singled twice, stole a base and drove in a pair, while catcher Skyler Weber and right fielder Jack Meggs both doubled, and Jake Lumley and Jordan Devencenzi had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers.
