On a night when the RockHounds put 11 runs on the board, it was RHP Norge Ruiz who turned in the most impressive performance of the evening. The 24-year-old Cuban import made his fourth start of the season and allowed just 3 hits while throwing 7 shutout innings to earn the win on Thursday. And since surrendering 8 runs in his first start, Ruiz has given up just 1 run in 17 1/3 innings over his last 3 starts for Midland. Designated hitter Brett Siddall had a big night at the plate, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in 5 runs. Catcher Santiago Chavez singled, doubled and drove in a run, while right fielder Seth Brown had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in 3, and center fielder Tyler Ramirez singled twice, walked twice and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

LHP Eric Jokisch turned in his best start of the season for the Sounds, striking out 6 over 5 2/3 shutout frames, and he left the game with the lead on Thursday. But LHP Jeremy Bleich was charged with 4 runs in just 2/3 of an inning as New Orleans tied the game. Second baseman Franklin Barreto had 3 hits, including a double, and is now hitting .412 over his last 4 games, while center fielder Dustin Fowler singled twice, homered and drove in 3 runs, and designated hitter Josh Phegley singled, tripled and drove in the tying run in the bottom of the 10th. RHP Bobby Wahl picked up the win despite being charged with 2 unearned runs in the top of 10th for the Sounds. In other news, the A’s optioned pitchers Chris Bassitt and Kendall Graveman to Nashville on Thursday.

RHP Matt Milburn endured a rough start for Stockton, surrendering 7 runs, 6 earned, on 11 hits over 4 1/3 frames to suffer the loss on Thursday. LHP Andrew Tomasovich and RHP Sam Sheehan each allowed a single run in relief. Catcher Collin Theroux homered and walked, while third baseman Melvin Mercedes singled, walked and drove in 2 runs, and second baseman Nate Mondou and left fielder Dairon Blanco had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

After allowing just 1 run over his first 14 2/3 frames, RHP Bryce Conley had his first shaky start of the season on Thursday, surrendering 7 runs over 5 innings of work to suffer the loss. And RHP Nick Highberger tossed 1 scoreless inning of relief in his season debut for the Snappers. Designated hitter Logan Farrar singled, homered and drove in 2 runs, while shortstop Jesus Lopez had a pair of hits in the loss.
