Even though center fielder Austin Beck had the big hit of the night for Beloit, starter Xavier Altamirano turned in the most impressive performance of the evening for the Snappers. The 23-year-old right-hander had the best outing by a Beloit starter since the team’s no-hitter a week and a half earlier, allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk while throwing 5 scoreless frames to keep the Chiefs completely in check on Monday night. But when Altamirano exited after the 5th inning, the game was still a scoreless tie. RHP Seth Martinez took over on the mound for the Snappers and promptly surrendered the go-ahead run in the 6th. But in the bottom of the 8th, first baseman Hunter Hargrove singled in Beck, who’d walked earlier in the inning, to tie the game for Beloit. LHP Ty Damron tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to take the game to extra innings. Then, in the bottom of the 10th, Beck singled in shortstop Nick Allen from second to help the Snappers win in a walk-off and snap their three-game losing streak on Monday. Beck and Allen both had a pair of singles in the game, and LHP Logan Salow picked up the win after tossing a scoreless top of the 10th for the Snappers.

RHP Daniel Gossett delivered his second straight solid start for the Sounds, allowing 2 runs while striking out 5 over 6 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP Raul Alcantara pitched a perfect 9th to notch the save for Nashville. Center fielder Dustin Fowler collected 3 hits and stole a base, while catcher Josh Phegley singled, doubled and drove in a pair. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled twice, drove in a run and stole a base, and left fielder Nick Martini drew a walk and doubled in a run for the Sounds. RHP Corey Walter turned in his second straight strong start for Midland on Monday, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, over 6 innings of work, but he left the game with the RockHounds down by a run and ended up being saddled with his 2nd loss. Left fielder J.P. Sportman continued his hot hitting of late, slugging his 3rd home run in the 3rd inning to account for the RockHounds’ sole run, and he’s now hitting .400 over his last five games for the Hounds. Meanwhile, Midland placed LHP Jarret Martin on the temporarily inactive list on Monday.
