The RockHounds clinched their second straight Texas League Championship on Friday behind a stellar pitching performance by RHP Parker Frazier. Frazier struck out 9 while twirling a masterful 3-hit shutout to earn the victory as the Hounds won their third straight against NW Arkansas to sweep the best-of-five series and bring the Texas League title back home to Midland for the second consecutive season. Left fielder Josh Whitaker, who suffered a hand injury during the playoffs, returned to action on Friday and singled in a pair of runs in the top of the 4th and then homered in the 6th. Third baseman Ryon Healy and right fielder Matt Olson both doubled in runs in the 4th, while this year’s Texas League walk leader, second baseman Colin Walsh, walked with the bases loaded in the 6th, and catcher Beau Taylor and designated hitter Renato Nunez had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds. Midland finished the regular season with a 83-57 record and went 6-1 in the postseason. Meanwhile, RockHounds players were named to 7 of the 11 spots on A’s Farm’s 2015 Organizational All-Star Team on Thursday.
