Starter Andrew Werner had a solid outing on Sunday, allowing 2 runs and striking out 6 over 6 innings to earn his 3rd win, while RHP Dan Otero got the final 3 outs for his 9th save. Center fielder Michael Choice homered in his second straight game, while right fielder Jeremy Barfield hit his 1st home run for Sacramento.

A’s starter Brett Anderson made his first rehab start for Midland on Sunday, and it didn’t go smoothly. The left-hander allowed 6 runs on 6 hits while walking 4 in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss. First baseman Anthony Aliotti clubbed a 2-run homer in the top of the 1st inning to briefly give the RockHounds the lead and account for 2 of the team’s 3 runs on the day.

The Ports were no-hit by a pair of Lancaster pitchers of Sunday, but Ports pitchers surrendered only 2 hits themselves. Starter Jake Brown took the loss despite allowing just 1 hit and 1 run over 6 innings of work, while RHP Brett Hunter struck out 2 in 1 inning of scoreless relief in his season debut for Stockton, and RHP Blake Hassebrock gave up 1 hit and 1 run in his 1 inning of relief. Shortstop Addison Russell, who’d homered the last two days, went 0 for 4 in the game.

Beloit and Cedar Rapids combined to put 39 runs on the board in a Midwest League slugfest on Sunday. Outfielder John Wooten led the hit parade for the Snappers, collecting 4 hits, including his 6th home run, and driving in 5 runs, while third baseman Renato Nunez had a pair of doubles and a home run and drove in 3, and shortstop Daniel Robertson tripled and drove in a pair. Starter Seth Streich allowed 11 runs, 10 earned, in just 2 innings of work to take the loss, while RHP Kris Hall gave up 6 runs and LHP Chris Lamb surrendered 5 runs in the loss.
