RHP Parker Dunshee turned in his seventh straight quality start to help the RockHounds record their seventh win in their last eight games on Thursday. Dunshee looked impressive once again, striking out 6 while throwing 7 scoreless innings to earn his 7th win for Midland, lower his ERA with the RockHounds to 2.01 and extend his scoreless streak to 14 1/3 frames. RHP Kyle Finnegan pitched a perfect 9th to notch his team-best 12th save for the Hounds. Shortstop Richie Martin had a big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including a triple and a pair of doubles, while also driving in a run and tallying his team-leading 24h stolen base. First baseman Seth Brown homered and walked, while catcher Sean Murphy drew a walk and doubled in a run, and center fielder Luis Barrera doubled in a run in his return from the disabled list for the RockHounds.

The Sounds suffered their third loss in their last four games on Thursday. RHP James Naile gave up 4 runs over 5 2/3 frames in his first start since returning from the RockHounds. He left with the game a 4-4 tie, but LHP Jeremy Bleich allowed the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds as New Orleans won in a walk-off. Catcher Beau Taylor singled twice, scored twice and walked, while rehabbing left fielder Matt Joyce drew a walk and singled in 2 runs, and right fielder BJ Boyd and first baseman Steve Lombardozzi had a pair of hits apiece and each drove in a run in the loss. Meanwhile, RHPs Frankie Montas and J.B. Wendelken were recalled by the A’s, RHP Ryan Dull and outfielder/first baseman Nick Martini were sent back to the Sounds, and infielder Melvin Mercedes returned from the disabled list on Thursday.

Catcher Collin Theroux led the Ports to their fifth straight win on Thursday. Theroux smacked a two-out solo shot to tie the game in the top of the 4th and then slugged a grand slam with two outs in the 5th to put the game out of reach. Left fielder Luke Persico had 2 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while third baseman Brallan Perez singled twice, walked and scored twice for Stockton. Starter Wyatt Marks allowed 3 runs and struck out 7 over 5 frames to pick up his 2nd win for the Ports.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE  (Class-A)

The Snappers won their second straight over Wisconsin on Thursday to remain tied for a wild-card spot. Right fielder Jack Meggs walked, singled and doubled in the winning run in the top of the 8th, while catcher Jordan Devencenzi collected 3 hits. Center fielder Austin Beck singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run, and shortstop Nick Allen singled and drove in 3 for Beloit. Starter Jared Poche allowed 2 runs over 5 1/3 frames, while RHP Seth Martinez tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters were shut out on just three hits on Thursday. Right fielder Nick Osborne, first baseman Alfonso Rivas and rehabbing Stockton shortstop Kevin Merrell each singled for Vermont in the loss. 21-year-old Dominican RHP Rafael Kelly turned in his third straight strong start, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up suffering his 6th loss for the Lake Monsters.
