MIDWEST LEAGUE  (Class-A)

Beloit Snappers  4

Burlington Bees    5

LP: Damron 2-2 / 2.37

HR: Lopez (4)

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Wyatt Marks

(6 IP / 2 H / 0 ER / 3 BB / 4 K)

Despite the fact that his team went down to defeat in extra innings on Monday, RHP Wyatt Marks turned in an outstanding start for the Snappers. Last year’s 13th-round draft pick for the A’s was charged with 1 unearned run on just 2 hits over 6 innings of work, and he left the game with a one-run lead on Monday. RHP Jesus Zambrano gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, including the tying run in the bottom of the 9th and another tying run in the bottom of the 11th for Beloit. LHP Ty Damron allowed 1 unearned run to score in the bottom of the 12th to suffer his 2nd loss as Burlington won in a walk-off. Third baseman Jesus Lopez homered, while catcher Skyler Weber doubled and scored a run, and designated hitter Lazaro Armenteros walked and singled in a run for the Snappers.

Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Chris Bassitt

(6 IP / 8 H / 2 ER / 0 BB / 8 K)

RHP Chris Bassitt turned in his second straight strong start for the Sounds, allowing 2 runs while walking none and striking out a season-high 8 over 6 innings of work, but he exited with the game a 2-2 tie on Monday. RHP Josh Lucas tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Bobby Wahl pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 3rd win for Nashville. Center fielder Jake Smolinski walked twice, scored twice and led off the bottom of the 9th with a single, and he later came around to score the winning run on first baseman Steve Lombardozzi‘s one-out RBI single as the Sounds won in a walk-off on Monday.

Prospect Of The Game:

Third Baseman Edwin Diaz

(3 for 4 / Home Run / Walk)

Stockton scored 10 runs for the second straight game but, unfortunately, Modesto managed to push 12 runs across the plate on Monday. Stockton starter Jake Bray, who entered the game with a 2.97 ERA after his first 8 outings, struggled mightily, surrendering 10 runs in just 3 1/3 innings of work to suffer his 3rd loss and see ERA rise to 4.99. Third baseman Edwin Diaz had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 3 hits, including his team-leading 6th home run. Center fielder Skye Bolt homered and drove in 3 runs, while designated hitter Collin Theroux singled and slugged a two-run homer, and left fielder Luke Persico homered, drew a walk and drove in a pair for the Ports.
