Designated Hitter Tyler Marincov

Designated hitter Tyler Marincov had 3 hits for the RockHounds, including a big tie-breaking 3-run homer in the 4th inning as well as an RBI single in the 3rd on Sunday. Center fielder Brett Vertigan doubled twice and scored twice, while catcher Beau Taylor singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. RHP Corey Walter made the start in place of scheduled starter Brandon Mann and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work, while RHP Trey Cochran-Gill tossed scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Bobby Wahl pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 6th save for the Hounds. Infielder Franklin Barreto didn’t play on Sunday after exiting Saturday’s game after beating out an infield single in the top of the 6th inning.

Starter Chris Smith allowed 3 runs over 5 innings of work to suffer his 8th loss for the Sounds on Sunday. Left fielder Colin Walsh homered to put Nashville on the board in the 2nd inning and walked and scored the Sounds’ second run in the 7th. Second baseman Joey Wendle, center fielder Jaycob Brugman and designated hitter Arismendy Alcantara had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. And in roster news, the A’s acquired LHP Ross Detwiler from the Indians for cash on Sunday and assigned him to the Sounds.

Shortstop Mikey White doubled and scored in the 4th inning and hit a 2-run homer in the 8th, while third baseman Jose Brizuela singled and homered in the game, and catcher Argenis Raga singled, doubled and drove in a pair for the Ports. RHP Brett Graves had a shaky start on Sunday and was charged with 7 runs over 5 innings of work to suffer his 8th loss for Stockton.

Starter Boomer Biegalski tossed 5 shutout innings before surrendering back-to-back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game. And RHP Cody Kurz was then charged with the winning run in the 8th to take the loss on Sunday. Designated hitter Chris Iriart slugged his first home run for the Snappers since returning from the disabled list.

A’s top draft pick A.J. Puk allowed 2 unearned runs on 2 hits and 1 walk while throwing 34 pitches, 21 for strikes, in 1 1/3 innings of work on Sunday. He was followed by RHP Branden Kelliher, who gave up 4 runs in 3 innings of relief to suffer his 1st loss for the Lake Monsters. First baseman Miguel Mercedes doubled in 2 runs, while right fielder Jhonny Rodriguez and designated hitter Luke Persico had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.
