Led by last year’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, Dillon Overton, some of the A’s most newly-minted pitching prospects combined to shut out Aberdeen on just 3 hits on Tuesday. Overton, who’s working his way back from Tommy John surgery, started the game off by pitching 3 perfect innings while striking out 3 of the minimum 9 batters he faced. This year’s 3rd-round pick, RHP Brett Graves, allowed just 1 hit in 3 shutout innings to earn the win, while this year’s 2nd-round pick, RHP Daniel Gossett, struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of relief, and RHP Lee Sosa came on to get the final three outs in the 9th for the Lake Monsters. Left fielder Max Kuhn singled, doubled, walked and drove in 3, while third baseman Jose Brizuela singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice, and shortstop Yairo Munoz and designated hitter Seong-min Kim had a pair of hits apiece for Vermont.

Acquired from St. Louis for cash last week, 31-year-old RHP Angel Castro made his debut for the River Cats on Tuesday, allowing just 1 unearned run on 4 hits over 4 innings of work, while RHP Philip Humber tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. RHP Evan Scribner pitcher a pair of perfect innings, and RHP Jeremy McBryde got the final three outs for his 14th save. Left fielder Alden Carrithers hit his 2nd home run, while right fielder Nick Buss had a pair of hits, scored a run and stole his 11th base, and shortstop Andy Parrino and catcher Luis Martinez each drove in a run for the River Cats.

Second baseman Conner Crumbliss homered for the third time in his last five games to provide the RockHounds’ only run on Tuesday, while designated hitter Hiro Nakajima had a pair of hits and a walk. Starter Nate Long was solid, allowing just 2 runs over 6 1/3 innings of work but he still ended up taking the loss, while RHP Deryk Hooker tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the RockHounds.

Outfielder Jaycob Brugman continued his hot hitting on Tuesday, slugging his 6th home run in his last 5 games to provide the Ports’ only run of the night. Stockton managed just 5 hits in the game, with designated hitter Ryon Healy doubling to provide the Ports’ only other extra-base hit. RHP Dylan Covey had his fourth straight rough start for Stockton, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits over 4 1/3 innings to take his 3rd loss, while RHP Bobby Wahl gave up 3 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief for the Ports.
