Rehabbing catcher Derek Norris, serving as the designated hitter on Sunday, had 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 3 runs, while catcher Ryan Ortiz and outfielders Michael Taylor and Jake Goebbert all homered as well, and shortstop Addison Russell went 0 for 5 in his second game for Sacramento. Starter Travis Banwart allowed 5 runs on 10 hits over 5 innings, but he still left the game with the lead. LHP Hideki Okajima gave up 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th though to take the loss. In other news, with major league rosters expanding on Sunday, the A’s called up River Cats infielders Jemile Weeks and Andy Parrino, outfielder Michael Choice and LHP Pedro Figueroa.

Max Muncy, who started out slowly at Midland, has been heating up lately, and the first baseman hit his 3rd and 4th home runs and drove in 3 runs on Sunday. Starter Sean Murphy had a rough outing for the RockHounds, allowing 7 runs on 9 hits over 3 innings to take the loss.

Outfielder Dusty Robinson had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 4 hits, including a home run and a double and driving in 4 runs, while outfielder Bobby Crocker tripled, homered and scored twice. RHP Michael Ynoa started the game by tossing 2 scoreless and hitless innings while walking 1 and striking out 4. RHP Josh Bowman followed up by allowing 3 runs over 7 innings of work to earn his 7th win on Sunday.

After impressing in his first start for the Snappers, RHP Kyle Finnegan had a much rougher time of it his second time out, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits over 2 1/3 innings to take the loss. Designated hitter Ryan Delgado singled, homered and drove in 3 runs, while outfielder John Wooten collected 3 hits and drove in a run for the Snappers.

This year’s top draft pick for the A’s, outfielder Billy McKinney, had 3 hits in his 6th game with Vermont to raise his average with the Lake Monsters to .304. Starter Lee Sosa allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 4 innings of work, while RHP Fernando Cruzado surrendered 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning to take the loss on Sunday.
