Four home runs helped the Sounds snap their four-game losing streak on Friday. Second baseman Franklin Barreto continued his hot hitting of late, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double, and the 21-year-old has now gone 12 for 20 over his last 5 games for the Sounds. First baseman Matt Olson doubled, hit his 22nd home run and drove in 3, while left fielder Renato Nunez walked, doubled, drilled his minor-league-leading 28th homer and drove in a pair, and designated hitter Chris Carter walked and slugged a 2-run shot for the Sounds. Starter Corey Walter gave up 2 runs in 3 1/3 innings of work, and RHP Chris Bassitt picked up the win despite allowing 2 runs in 2 innings of relief for Nashville.

RHP Grant Holmes had a rough start for the RockHounds, allowing 8 runs over just 2 2/3 innings to suffer his 11th loss as Midland dropped its second straight to San Antonio on Friday. Shortstop Jorge Mateo singled, tripled, stole a base and scored twice, while center fielder B.J. Boyd and second baseman Max Schrock had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds. And in other news, RHP James Naile returned to the RockHounds roster from Stockton on Friday.

Starter Norge Ruiz returned from his 10-game suspension to allow 1 run in 4 innings of work and left with the game a 1-1 tie on Friday. But LHP Evan Manarino surrendered 6 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief to suffer his 8th loss for Stockton. Center fielder Skye Bolt walked and hit a 2-run homer, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair for the Ports.

The Snappers lost in a slugfest on Friday. Beloit and Peoria combined to set a Midwest League record by compiling a total of 20 extra-base hits in the game. Shortstop Edwin Diaz led the Snappers’ attack by collecting three hits, including a home run and a double, while driving in 4 runs. Designated hitter Miguel Mercedes singled, doubled, homered and drove in 3, while left fielder J.C. Rodriguez belted a 2-run blast, and catcher Collin Theroux slugged a solo shot for the Snappers. LHP Kyle Twomey turned in a strong start, allowing just 1 run over 5 2/3 frames, but RHP Joseph Camacho surrendered 7 runs, 6 earned, in 1 1/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss on Friday.

Vermont scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and held on to secure its second straight victory over Connecticut on Friday. Starter Marc Berube allowed 1 run over 3 innings of work, while RHP Argenis Blanco was solid in relief, throwing 4 scoreless frames to earn his 4th win, and RHP Wandisson Charles got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 5th save for the Lake Monsters. Catcher Jarrett Costa collected a pair of hits, while first baseman Hunter Hargrove and designated hitter Anthony Churlin each singled and drove in a run to help lead Vermont to victory on Friday.

Center fielder Ben Spitznagel singled, doubled, walked and drove in the A’s sole run, while second baseman Yerdel Vargas and third baseman Jake Lumley had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.
