21-year-old shortstop Max Muncy had a big day at the plate on Sunday to help lead Las Vegas to victory over Sugar Land and rehabbing starter Justin Verlander, who surrendered 7 runs, 6 earned, over 3 innings of work to suffer the loss in his first rehab start. Muncy homered, doubled twice, was hit by a pitch and drove in 3 runs, and 2021’s 1st-round draft pick for the A’s is now slashing .360/.429/.600 through his first 7 games at the Triple-A level. Third baseman Brett Harris had 3 hits, including a triple, drew a walk and drove in 4, while right fielder Daz Cameron singled, doubled twice and stole a base. Center fielder Esteury Ruiz singled, doubled, was hit by a pitch, drove in a run and swiped a pair of bases, and catcher Carlos Perez clubbed his 3rd home run for the Aviators. Starter Hogan Harris was charged with 4 runs, 3 earned, over 4 1/3 frames, while RHP Adrian Martinez picked up the victory after allowing 1 run in 2/3 of an inning of relief for Las Vegas.
