Center fielder Denzel Clarke had a big night to propel the Ports to their first win of the season on Thursday. Clarke, who was the A’s 4th-round draft pick last year, had 4 hits, including a two-out home run in the 3rd inning to put the Ports on the board and also stole a base in the game. On the night, the 21-year-old scored 4 runs and drove in 3 runs, including the winning run in the 6th for Stockton. Designated hitter Danny Bautista doubled, walked and drove in 3 runs, while last year’s top draft pick for the A’s, shortstop Max Muncy, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair for the Ports. Starter Luke Anderson allowed 6 runs, 4 earned, over 3 1/3 innings of work, while 21-year-old Dominican RHP Yehizon Sanchez pitched 2 2/3 perfect innings to earn the win, and LHP Jack Owen struck out 5 in 2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the save for the Ports.
