Wednesday, June 23rd: Buelvas Stars for Stockton while Lansing Suffers 2 Shutout Losses

Unfortunately, all of the A’s affiliates lost their contests on Wednesday, but there were still a few fine performances to note. While the Ports suffered a one-run loss to snap their four-game winning streak, outfielder Brayan Buelvas turned in another good game for Stockton. The 19-year-old singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair of runs for the Ports. Buelvas is currently tied with Tyler Soderstrom for the team home run lead, and his .517 slugging percentage and .860 OPS are second only to Soderstrom among current Ports. Right fielder Danny Bautista singled, walked twice, scored twice and stole a base, while Soderstrom singled, tripled and drove in a run, and catcher Jose Rivas doubled twice and drove in a pair for the Ports. Starter Daniel Martinez allowed 8 runs in just 2 1/3 innings of work to suffer the loss for Stockton.

The RockHounds fell for the fourth time in their last five games on Wednesday. Starter Bryce Conley was charged with 6 runs over 4 2/3 frames to suffer the loss for Midland. First baseman Kyle McCann had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while second baseman Nick Allen singled twice, and designated hitter Devin Foyle singled in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

Lansing was shut out on just one hit to drop the first game of its doubleheader with Cedar Rapids on Wednesday. Starter Bryce Nightengale tossed 2 scoreless innings, while tandem starter David Leal gave up 4 runs in 4 2/3 frames to suffer the loss for the Lugnuts. Second baseman Elvis Peralta singled for Lansing’s sole hit in the loss.

The Lugnuts were shut out on four hits to drop the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader as the Kernels swept the twinbill with a pair of shutouts. RHP Seth Shuman turned in a solid start, throwing 5 scoreless frames, but LHP Dalton Sawyer was charged with an unearned run in the 6th to suffer the loss for Lansing. Second baseman Cobie Vance collected a pair of hits, while designated hitter Drew Millas singled, walked and stole a base in the loss.
