Las Vegas hung on to notch a one-run victory over Albuquerque on Monday. And first baseman Frank Schwindel led the attack for the Aviators. The 28-year-old slugger, who was signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, smacked a pair of solo shots on Monday, one in the 2nd inning to give Las Vegas an early lead and another in the 9th, which turned out to be crucial. He also singled in a run in the 7th and drew a walk and in the 5th. Schwindel’s 7 home runs and 32 hits are both team bests, and his .296 batting average is tops among current Aviators. Catcher Austin Allen singled, walked and homered for the second straight game, tagging a two-run shot in the 7th, while shortstop Pete Kozma clubbed a three-run homer in the 5th. Starting pitcher Paul Blackburn allowed 4 runs over 6 innings of work to earn the win, while LHP Reymin Guduan tossed a scoreless 7th in his second rehab appearance. RHP Jordan Weems surrendered 4 runs in the 9th to make things close, but RHP Miguel Romero notched the final out in the 9th to secure the save for Las Vegas.
