RHP James Kaprielian led the RockHounds to a shutout win over the Naturals on Tuesday. Kaprielian made the start for Midland and allowed just 2 hits while striking out 5 over 4 2/3 scoreless frames. The 25-year-old has now failed to allow a run over his last 11 2/3 innings of work and has given up just 1 run over his last 18 2/3 innings for the RockHounds. RHP Seth Martinez threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win, while LHP Tyler Alexander tossed 1 2/3 scoreless frames in relief, and RHP Jesus Zambrano got the final four outs to complete the six-hit shutout and record his 5th save for the RockHounds. Second baseman Nate Mondou had 3 hits and drew a walk, while first baseman Taylor Motter slugged his 7th home run for the Hounds.

Las Vegas suffered its second straight loss to Albuquerque on Tuesday. In his second game since being promoted to Triple-A, first baseman Alfonso Rivas reached base 5 times, on a double, a pair of singles and a pair of walks, while also driving in a run for the Aviators. Left fielder Mark Payton singled, doubled, drew a walk and scored a run, while shortstop Jorge Mateo singled and slugged a two-run homer, and center fielder Skye Bolt drew a walk and drilled a two-run shot for Las Vegas. RHP Matt Harvey made the start and allowed 4 runs while striking out 7 over 5 frames, and RHP Trey McNutt gave up 2 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief to take the loss. In other news, Las Vegas skipper Fran Riordan was named the PCL Manager of the Year on Tuesday.

Stockton suffered its sixth straight loss on Tuesday. Starter Bryce Conley threw 4 scoreless and hitless frames, but RHP Eric Marinez was charged with 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief, and RHP Trey Cochran-Gill gave up 2 runs, including the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss as Modesto won in a walk-off. Third baseman Jonah Bride doubled and drew a pair of walks, while right fielder Brallan Perez singled twice and stole a base for Stockton in the loss.

After being shut out on Monday, the Snappers were no-hit on Tuesday. Beloit starter Aiden McIntyre had his own no-hitter going against the Bees, carrying it through 5 frames before departing with the game a scoreless and hitless tie. RHP Richard Guasch then threw 4 scoreless frames in relief before allowing 1 unearned run in the bottom of the 10th to suffer the loss as Burlington bested Beloit in a 10-inning, no-hit walk-off. Designated hitter Joseph Pena drew a pair of walks and stole a base for the Snappers in the loss.

The Lake Monsters won in 10 innings to snap their four-game losing streak on Tuesday. Starter Richard Morban turned in another strong start, allowing just 1 run while striking out 7 over 5 2/3 frames. RHP Jose Mora was charged with an unearned run in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game but tossed a scoreless frame in the bottom of the 10th and struck out 6 over 2 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the victory for Vermont. Catcher Jose Rivas singled twice, stole a base and scored a run, while left fielder Shane Selman scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the 10th for the Lake Monsters.

 

ARIZONA LEAGUE  (Rookie Short-Season)

The AZL A’s Gold squad’s postseason run came to a quick end when the team lost a one-game, do-or-die, playoff game on Tuesday. This year’s 33rd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Charles Hall, who was riding a 12-inning scoreless streak, turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs while striking out 5 over 5 frames but ended up suffering the loss for the A’s. 18-year-old Panamanian third baseman Joshwan Wright singled, doubled and homered to provide the A’s only run in the loss.
