First Baseman Taylor Motter

(3 for 3 / Home Run / Double / 2 RBIs)

29-year-old Taylor Motter, who was recently acquired by the A’s out of the indy leagues, helped lead the Hounds to their fourth straight win on Sunday. While playing first base for Midland, Motter, who’s seen major league time with both Seattle and Minnesota, singled, doubled, homered and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. Center fielder Tyler Ramirez singled, tripled and scored twice, while third baseman Edwin Diaz hit a two-run homer for the Hounds. RHP James Naile turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP John Gorman picked up his 7th save despite giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th on Sunday.

Outfielder Skye Bolt

The Aviators came back to win in a walk-off on Sunday. Right fielder Skye Bolt doubled in the 2nd inning and then singled in the winning run in the bottom of the 9th for Las Vegas. Designated hitter Chris Herrmann tripled in the tying run in the 9th, while center fielder Dustin Fowler homered in the 1st, and left fielder Nick Martini walked and singled in a run for the Aviators. Starter Paul Blackburn delivered a strong start, allowing 2 runs and striking out 5 over 6 innings of work, but he left with the game a 2-2 tie. RHP Miguel Romero gave up 1 run in 2 1/3 innings of relief, and RHP Trey McNutt got the final two outs in the top of the 9th to pick up the victory for Las Vegas. And with Stephen Piscotty landing on the injured list for Oakland, the A’s recalled infielder Franklin Barreto on Sunday.

RHP Xavier Altamirano had a rough start for Stockton on Sunday, surrendering 6 runs over 5 frames to suffer the loss. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros reached base 3 times, on a single and a pair of walks, while second baseman Ryan Gridley doubled for the Ports’ only extra-base hit in the loss.

The Snappers suffered their seventh straight loss on Sunday. 21-year-old Cuban RHP Richard Guasch made the start and gave up 2 runs in 3 innings of work, while his tandem-pitching partner, RHP Rafael Kelly, allowed 2 runs over 4 frames to take the loss. Catcher John Jones singled, doubled and homered for the Snappers in the loss.

The Lake Monsters were shut out for the second straight night on Sunday. 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Angello Infante turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 unearned run over 4 frames, but he still ended up suffering the loss for the Lake Monsters. 22-year-old right fielder Nick Osborne and 18-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz both doubled for Vermont in the loss.

The AZL A’s Green squad won in 10 innings on Sunday. This year’s 11th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Dustin Harris, singled, doubled and scored twice, while 18-year-old Dominican right fielder Jose Bonilla doubled and drew a walk. 18-year-old Mexican catcher Hansen Lopez singled, walked and drove in a pair, and this year’s 27th-round draft pick, third baseman Gavin Jones, singled, drew a walk and drove in a run for the A’s. 20-year-old Dominican RHP Jorge Juan made the start and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in 1 2/3 innings of work, while 18-year-old Venezuelan RHP Luis Martinez threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Malik Jones pitched a scoreless frame in the top of the 10th to pick up the win on Sunday.

17-year-old Nicaraguan LHP Gerald Garcia made the start and allowed just 1 run over 3 innings of work, while this year’s 33rd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Charles Hall, gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 3 innings of relief to suffer the loss on Sunday. 22-year-old Venezuelan center fielder Yhoelnys Gonzalez singled, walked and stole a base, while 21-year-old Italian catcher Cesarre Astorri doubled for the A’s only extra-base hit in the loss.
