The Aviators put double digits on the board for the fourth time in their first six games to win their home opener at the brand new Las Vegas Ballpark on Tuesday. Rehabbing RHP Chris Bassitt made the start and gave up 1 run while striking out 5 over 3 innings of work. RHP Daniel Mengden replaced Bassitt on the mound and was outstanding, allowing 1 unearned run on just 1 hit while striking out 9 over 6 strong innings to earn the win for the Aviators. Second baseman Franklin Barreto collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled twice and doubled, and shortstop Jorge Mateo had a pair of hits and drove in a run for Vegas in the victory.

Starter James Naile endured a rough start for the RockHounds on Tuesday, allowing 8 runs in just 3 innings of work to suffer the loss for Midland. Relievers Ben Bracewell and Angel Duno followed with 2 scoreless innings apiece for the RockHounds. Midland hitters were held to just 5 hits in the game. Designated hitter Brallan Perez reached base twice, on a single and a walk, while center fielder Dairon Blanco and third baseman Mikey White both doubled in the loss.

Stockton suffered its fifth straight loss on Tuesday. Starter Daulton Jefferies allowed 1 run while striking out 4 over 3 innings of work, but his tandem-pitching partner, LHP Jared Poche, permitted 3 runs over 4 1/3 frames to take the loss. RHP Peter Bayer tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief after being added to the roster earlier in the day. Bayer took the place of LHP Will Gilbert, who was placed on the 7-day injured list. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros had a big day at the plate, collecting a home run and a double while drawing a pair of walks and stealing a base. Right fielder Austin Beck had a pair of hits, while first baseman Alfonso Rivas walked and singled in a run for the Ports in the loss.
MIDWEST LEAGUE (Class-A)

The Snappers shut out the Bees on just 3 hits on Tuesday. RHP Chase Cohen, last year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, turned in an outstanding start, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 6 over 6 shutout innings to earn the win. Converted infielder Eric Marinez tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Calvin Coker got the final four outs for the Snappers to secure the save and complete the shutout on Tuesday. Catcher John Jones doubled and drew a pair of walks, while left fielder Payton Squier singled twice, scored twice and stole a base, and shortstop Marcos Brito singled in a run for the Snappers in the win.
