On a day filled with solid pitching performances throughout the A’s minor league system, Stockton starter Matt Milburn may have turned in the best of the batch on Sunday. After throwing a complete-game shutout in his last start, the 24-year-old struck out 8 while tossing 7 shutout innings to extend his scoreless streak to 16 innings. Unfortunately, LHP Will Gilbert gave up the winning run in the top of the 9th to take the loss as Stockton’s offense was shutout for the second straight game to run its scoreless streak to 21 innings. Catcher Jonah Heim had a pair of hits, including his team-leading 21st double, for the Ports in the loss.

The Sounds won for the fifth time in their last six games on Sunday. RHP Raul Alcantara turned in his strongest start of the season, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 6 innings of work to notch his 4th win for Nashville. Right fielder Jake Smolinski had a big day at the plate, collecting 3 hits, including his 9th home run, while driving in 3 runs. Catcher Beau Taylor singled twice, walked twice and drove in a run, and left fielder Nick Martini had a pair of hits to extend his on-base streak to 60 games.

RHP Parker Dunshee delivered an outstanding start to help the RockHounds notch their first win in a week on Sunday. The 23-year-old allowed just 1 run on 3 hits while walking none and striking out 7 over 6 innings of work to earn his 1st win for Midland. RHP Nolan Blackwood tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to record his 9th save for the RockHounds. Designated hitter Tyler Marincov tripled, doubled, walked and drove in a run, and third baseman J.P. Sportman hit a two-run homer to help the Hounds win on Sunday.

Vermont was victorious in 11 innings on Sunday to notch its fourth win in its last five games. This year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s, designated hitter Alfonso Rivas, reached base 4 times, on 3 hits and a walk, and drove in 3 runs, including the tying run in the 6th inning, while first baseman Aaron Arruda doubled, drew a pair of walks and drove in a run. 18-year-old Dominican second baseman Marcos Brito singled, doubled, walked and drove in the tying run in the 10th, and left fielder Payton Squier singled twice and drove in 3 runs, including the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th as the Lake Monsters won in a walk-off on Sunday. This year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Chase Cohen, made the start and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work, while 21-year-old Dominican RHP Rafael Kelly surrendered 5 runs, 4 earned, over 3 1/3 frames. RHP Brandon Withers threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings, and 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Oscar Tovar picked up the win despite giving up 2 runs, 1 earned, in 2 innings of relief for Vermont.

19-year-old Dominican RHP Ismael Aquino made the start on Sunday and tossed 2 scoreless innings, while this year’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s, LHP Austin Briggs, gave up 3 runs in 2 innings of relief to take the loss. 19-year-old Venezuelan right fielder Rafael Rincones ripped a two-run homer, while 18-year-old Dominican left fielder George Bell had 2 hits, including a double, and shortstop Yerdel Vargas and second baseman Alexander Campos both doubled for the A’s in the loss.
