The Ports prevailed for the third time in their last four games on Friday. Catcher Jonah Heim collected 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 3 runs, including the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 4th inning. And Heim’s 7 home runs are now tops among current Ports players. Second baseman Nate Mondou singled, doubled, tripled and drove in a pair, while center fielder Luis Barrera had 2 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run. Second baseman Trace Loehr, who was reassigned to Stockton from Beloit on Friday, went 1 for 4 in his Califonia League debut, and third baseman Brallan Perez and right fielder Dairon Blanco had 3 hits apiece for the Ports. After throwing 7 shutout innings in his Stockton debut on Sunday, starter Xavier Altamirano surrendered 7 runs over 5 2/3 frames but still notched the win, while RHP Angel Duno got the final three outs to pick up his 8th save for the Ports.

The Sounds had their four-game winning streak snapped on Friday. Starter James Naile allowed 2 runs and threw 91 pitches over 4 frames to suffer his 7th loss for the Sounds. Second baseman Steve Lombardozzi singled, doubled and walked, while designated hitter Anthony Garcia tagged his team-leading 13th home run in the top of the 2nd inning to provide the Sounds’ sole run in the loss.

The Snappers dropped their second straight to Peoria on Friday. Starter Jared Poche allowed 4 runs over 6 innings of work to suffer his 6th loss for the Snappers. Right fielder Mickey McDonald had 2 hits, including a double, while third baseman Jesus Lopez singled and notched his team-leading 9th home run to account for the Snappers’ only run in the loss. Meanwhile Beloit second baseman Trace Loehr was promoted to the Ports on Friday.

After scoring 14 runs on Thursday, the Lake Monsters surrendered 13 runs as they fell to Brooklyn on Friday. This year’s 14th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Gus Varland, made the start and surrendered 3 runs, 2 earned, in 1 innng of work to suffer the loss in his Vermont debut. Last year’s 29th-round pick, RHP Adam Reuss, gave up 8 runs, 6 earned, in 2 2/3 innings of relief for the Lake Monsters. This year’s 2nd-round pick, center fielder Jameson Hannah singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run, while catcher Iolana Akau walked twice and singled in a pair of runs, and this year’s 33rd-round draft pick, second baseman Joseph Pena, doubled and drew a pair of walks in his first game for the Lake Monsters. Last year’s 20th-round draft pick for the A’s, 18-year-old Puerto Rican RHP Osvaldo Berrios, had a shaky start on Friday, surrendering 7 runs in just 3 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss, while rehabbing RHP Corey Walter tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief for the A’s. 18-year-old Dominican center fielder Kevin Richards doubled in a pair of runs for the A’s in the loss.
