The Sounds came from behind on Thursday to win their fourth straight over the Dodgers and complete the sweep of their series in Oklahoma City. Catcher Beau Taylor had a big night at the plate. He hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the 4th inning, and then, after the Dodgers had taken back the lead, he tripled in the tying and winning runs in the top of the 9th for the Sounds. Center fielder Jake Smolinski singled twice and homered, while designated hitter Anthony Garcia had 3 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run, and first baseman Nick Martini singled twice, doubled and drove in a pair and extended his on-base streak to 58 games. Rehabbing LHP Brett Anderson surrendered 6 runs, 4 earned, over 3 2/3 frames, while LHP Danny Coulombe earned the win despite allowing 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief, and RHP Ryan Dull pitched a perfect 9th to pick up the save for the Sounds.

The RockHounds suffered their seventh loss in their last eight games on Thursday. Starter Kyle Friedrichs surrendered 6 runs over 4 2/3 frames to take his 5th loss for Midland. Left fielder Tyler Ramirez had 3 hits, including a double, while first baseman Seth Brown singled twice and drove in a run, and right fielder J.P. Sportman doubled in a run for the RockHounds in the loss.

Right fielder Dairon Blanco singled, doubled and drew a walk, while second baseman Nate Mondou and center fielder Luis Barrera had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports.

Starter Mitchell Jordan allowed 2 runs over 5 frames to take the loss, while RHP Jaimito Lebron gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief in his Snappers debut. Last year’s 11th-round draft pick for the A’s, second baseman Ryan Gridley, singled, walked and homered, while shortstop Nick Allen, center fielder Austin Beck and right fielder Jack Meggs had a pair of hits apiece for the Snappers in the loss.

This year’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Jameson Hannah, had 2 hits, including a double, drew 2 walks and drove in a pair of runs, while right fielder Anthony Churlin doubled twice and drove in 3. Second baseman Marcos Brito collected 3 hits, including a double, and first baseman Alfonso Rivas doubled, drew a walk and drove in 4 runs for Vermont. 19-year-old Panamanian RHP Abdiel Mendoza picked up the win despite allowing 4 runs over 5 innings of work for the Lake Monsters. Meanwhile, Vermont outfielder Jeramiah McCray was released and catcher Cooper Goldby landed on the disabled list for the Lake Monsters on Thursday. The AZL A’s came from behind to win their second straight on Thursday. This year’s 30th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Gio Dingcong, drew a walk and scored a run in the 7th inning and then doubled in the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the 8th for the A’s. 18-year-old Dominican shortstop Yerdel Vargas tripled, stole a base and scored a run, while 17-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz had 2 hits, including a double, and 20-year-old Panamanian catcher Jorge Gordon tripled in a run in the win. This year’s 15th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Calvin Coker, made the start and tossed 1 scoreless inning in his pro debut. 20-year-old Dominican RHP Richard Morban allowed 1 run over 4 2/3 frames, while 22-year-old Panamanian LHP Jorge Martinez picked up the win despite surrendering 2 runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief, and this year’s 13th-round pick, RHP Dallas Woolfolk, got the final six outs to secure his 1st save for the A’s.
