While the RockHounds got big contributions from a trio of hitters, it was RHP Daniel Gossett’s effort on the mound that kept the game firmly in Midland’s control on Friday. Gossett turned in one of his best starts since joining the Hounds, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits while walking just 1 and striking out 6 over 7 1/3 innings to earn his 1st win with Midland. He was also charged with a pair of unearned runs after departing the game with two outs in the bottom of the 8th, and RHP Jake Sanchez got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 5th save. Right fielder Tyler Marincov collected 4 hits, including a home run, and drove in 2 runs, while designated hitter Carson Blair singled, homered and drove in a pair, and third baseman Matt Chapman tagged a 2-run homer to help the Hounds win their third straight on Friday.

RHP Nick Tepesch, who was recently acquired off waivers from the Dodgers, allowed 5 runs over 6 innings of work to suffer the loss in his first start for the Sounds on Friday. Left fielder Matt McBride singled, homered and drove in 3 runs, while right fielder Matt Olson singled, doubled, walked and scored three times, and center fielder Arismendy Alcantara had a pair of hits and drove in a run in the loss. Meanwhile, Tyler Ladendorf was recalled by the A’s and LHP Dillon Overton was optioned back to Nashville on Friday.

LHP Zack Erwin had a rough start for Stockton on Friday, allowing 6 runs in just 3 innings of work to suffer his 8th loss. The Ports scored 5 runs on just 6 hits. Shortstop Richie Martin reached base 3 times, on a single and a pair of walks, and scored twice, while second baseman Joe Bennie singled and drove in a pair for the Ports.

With one out, two men on and Beloit down by a run in the bottom of the 8th inning, designated hitter Skye Bolt singled in the tying run, and a throwing error on the play then enabled the winning run to score for the Snappers on Friday. Starter Boomer Biegalski allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, in 6 2/3 innings of work and left the game with his team down by a run. LHP Jared Lyons tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up his 4th win, while RHP Tyler Willman got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 1st save for the Snappers.
