RHP Chris Jensen delivered an impressive start for Midland on Monday, allowing just 2 hits over 7 scoreless innings to earn his 4th win, while RHP Tucker Healy got the final 6 outs for his 3rd save. Right fielder Anthony Aliotti singled, doubled, homered and drove in 2 runs, while designated hitter Miles Head had a pair of doubles, and second baseman Conner Crumbliss singled and walked twice for the RockHounds. In other news, shortstop Addison Russell returned to the RockHounds on Monday but remained on the bench. The A’s top prospect is expected to be back in action on Tuesday. RHP Sean Murphy also returned to the RockHounds from Stockton, while RHP Marcus Walden was reassigned to Midland from Sacramento, and outfielders Josh Whitaker and Kent Matthes were both placed on the disabled list on Monday.

RHP Matt Buschmann turned in a strong start for Sacramento on Monday, allowing just 1 run while walking none and striking out 6 over 6 innings of work to earn his 5th win, while RHP Fernando Rodriguez and LHP Justin Marks combined to throw 3 scoreless innings in relief. Second baseman Tyler Ladendorf and outfielder Shane Peterson each collected 3 hits and drove in a run, while third baseman Andy Parrino drove in a pair in his first game back at Sacramento. Along with Parrino’s return to the River Cats, infielder Jake Elmore was reinstated from the disabled list and optioned to Sacramento, and infielder Wade Kirkland was returned to Stockton. Meanwhile, RHP Zach Neal rejoined the River Cats from Midland, while Sacramento RHP Marcus Walden was reassigned to the RockHounds. And A’s outfielder Josh Reddick is to set to begin a rehab assignment with Sacramento on Wednesday and is expected to remain with the River Cats through the weekend.

Starter Jose Torres was a little shaky on Monday, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings of work to take the loss for Vermont, but RHP Lee Sosa was impressive in relief. Sosa, who started the season with Beloit, allowed just 1 hit while walking none and striking out 5 over 4 scoreless innings of relief in his season debut for the Lake Monsters. Outfielder Justin Higley singled and doubled, while shortstop Gabriel Santana had 2 hits and drove in a run, and outfielders Brett Vertigan and Dayton Alexander had a pair of hits apiece for Vermont.
In Other News…
The A’s officially announced on Monday that they had agreed to terms with their 1st-round draft pick, third baseman Matt Chapman, as well as the team’s 6th-round pick, high school shortstop Trace Loehr. The A’s have now signed 7 of the team’s top 10 picks in this year’s draft, with #3 RHP Brett Graves, #5 RHP Heath Fillmyer and #7 SS Branden Cogswell the only remaining unsigned top 10 picks for the A’s. Chapman took batting practice at the Coliseum on Monday and launched a few balls over the outfield fence. He also announced that he would be heading to the A’s training facility in Phoenix for a few days before beginning his season with Beloit in the Midwest League next week. Chapman can be expected to take over as the Snappers’ starting third baseman, with B.A. Vollmuth sticking at first base.
