Catcher Ryan Ortiz collected 3 doubles, drove in a run and scored twice for Sacramento. LHP Justin Thomas, who had an opt-out clause in his contract, requested his release and was granted it by the A’s.

The A’s top draft pick, outfielder Billy McKinney, had a pair of hits, including a double. Starter Junior Mendez gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of work, while RHP Hunter Adkins allowed 3 unearned runs to take the loss.
